Drummer and craftsman Scott McPherson (Tackle Instrument Supply Co.) and orchestral percussionist and mallet-maker Dinesh Joseph (Dragonfly Percussion) began a long-distance collaboration. Scott’s rock drumming bona fides (Elliott Smith, Beck, Bright Eyes) and Dinesh’s orchestral career (Buffalo Philharmonic) came crashing together to create a totally new kind of drum set accessory.

LowTops, the latest invention from Tackle by Dragonfly, are removable mallet heads that fit securely onto the butt-end or shoulder of almost any drumstick. Instantly turn any stick you own into a swizzle-style flip-stick. Or - position the LowTop on the shoulder of your stick, allowing you to play with the tips of your sticks and then play cymbal swells simply by lowering your wrist for ultra fast transitions. LowTops, which are constructed of soft layers of flannel and canvas discs on a flexible silicone tube, make your drums sound dark and warm and allow for absolutely seamless, silky cymbal swells.
